Celebrating National Grilling Month: Top Ten Grilling Plans
I think one the of the modern rights of passage is to have your own space to grill and cook out. It should be like in the top 5 things that make you an adult. Like the list should go something like paying taxes, having to deal with a billing mishap, dealing with in-laws, doing emergency repairs, and having your own space to entertain and/or grill out. Yeah, I didn’t like the rest of that list either. Let’s look at some house plans and feel better, ok?
Also, July is National Grilling Month so I put together 10 of our plans that have the best grilling porches and outdoor spaces. Here’s the first 5!
Tanglewood Drive (NDG 646)
These 2,000 square foot home features 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with a 2-car garage. This home gives you modern living with that Farmhouse Flair. As you enter the home through the covered porch you immediately step into the Foyer. To your left you will find the Dining Room with plenty of space for those family dinners. To your right you will find Bedroom 2 that also has the option of being used as a study with optional French Doors.
Moving from the Foyer and into the Great Room you find yourself in a large space featuring a brick work fireplace and a built-in media center. Moving through the Great Room you find yourself at the Kitchen bar with seating for 4 with a space for the range, dishwasher and sink. The Kitchen also features space for a pantry right beside the refrigerator making it easy to find ingredients for any meal. The Kitchen opens up to a Breakfast Room with large windows facing the rear of the home.
From the Kitchen you can enter a small hallway where you can turn left and go upstairs to the second floor, go straight into the garage or turn right and find the Laundry Area. The Laundry Area features space for a hanging bar as well as a sorting and folding table. Moving away from the Laundry Area you find yourself in the Master Suite.
The Master Suite is made up of the large Master Bedroom and the truly impressive Master Bath. The Master Bath features both a whirlpool tub and a corner shower with room for a linen closet, his and her sinks and space for a small TV cabinet. (The TV cabinet happens to face the whirlpool.) It also includes a large walk-in closet. The Master Bedroom has access to the Grilling Porch that runs along the rear of the home.
If you follow the Grilling Porch to the other side of the home, you will find yourself in Bedroom 4 that features double closets. Bedroom 4 shares a Jack and Jill bathroom with Bedroom 3. Bedroom 3 features a small walk-in closet. The first floor is finished off by a full bath in the hallway. The second-floor features 3 rooms with additional bonus space. It’s easy to see why this is one of our most popular plans!
Appalachian Retreat (MEN 5056)
This home is designed to give you all the amenities of city living in a rural setting. Our Appalachian Retreat plan is a contemporary mountain home with tons of space and character for everyone to enjoy. This home has nearly 4,000 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. This home rounds out with a 2-car garage with its own entrance to the home.
You approach the front of the home and are greeted by a large covered front porch. From there you enter the home through the foyer with expansive vaulted ceilings. The vaulted ceilings continue throughout much of the home.
If you step through the centrally located Hallway and into the Great Room, you will see those same vaulted ceilings and a natural stone half wall between the Great Room and the Kitchen Area. The Great Room features a large pass thru fireplace that connects with the Breakfast Nook in the Kitchen Area. The Kitchen features a pantry and a large island for entertaining and cooking.
Moving through the Kitchen, you find yourself in a large screened porch that opens up onto a Grilling Porch. As you walk around the outside of the home you will find that the large deck covers the entire back portion of the home and opens into the Master Suite through gorgeous French doors. This massive deck would be perfect for Moisture Shield and their marine proof products. The Master Bath contains a whirlpool tub and separate shower. Also included on this floor is a Laundry Room, Mudroom area, Dining Room and Office space.
And that was just the main floor! Just inside the door of the foyer you find a set of stairs that lead you down into the basement area. The stairs almost immediately open up into a large Game Room area with a built-in bar and small kitchen area. The rest of the basement contains Bedrooms 2 and 3 with adjoining Jack and Jill bathrooms. It also has plenty of room for storage and a Safe Room.
Salvatore (NDG 1344)
This home is a perfect example of a modern mansion. This house plan gives you nearly 8,000 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 5 and half baths. This home also includes a 4-car garage and a loft area. The circle driveway in the front of the home leads you straight into the entry way of the home. The foyer opens into a 5’ wide Grand Hall.
Walking directly through the opening from the grand hall you find yourself in the massive Great Room. This room features a large fireplace central to the right-hand wall and exposed beams in the ceilings to give you that look of openness that we all love right now. From the Great Room you can walk onto the Covered Porch.
The Covered Porch wraps around the home and gives you space for a Covered Outdoor Living Area and an open Grilling Porch. From any of the porch entrances you can make your way back into the home through the Hearth Room. This massive room with vaulted ceilings is perfect for those cozy nights in. Just beyond the Hearth Room is the spacious Kitchen. The Kitchen features a large island that will seat 6 for entertaining as well as a walk-in pantry for all of those wonderful meals.
From the Kitchen, you can walk back out into the main hall. This floor also has a Study with an adjoining Library, Dining Room, an Office with adjacent Storage area for all your files, a massive Laundry area, a Hobby room, ad 3 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms and walk-in closets. The Master Suite with its built-in sitting room and one of the largest Master Baths that I have ever seen. The Master Bath includes a glass shower, a whirlpool tub and two walks in closets bigger than my first apartment.
The second floor features a Media Room where you could have your own personal Theater. It also includes an apartment area with its own Bedroom, large bathroom with large walk in closet, and fully functioning Living Area/Kitchen Combo and private entrance. Did I mention the personal theater?
White Bluffs Cabin (NDG 1404)
This lovely plan gives you 1,800 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Entering the home through the large covered Front Porch, you find yourself in an open floor plan with a Great Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Room. The Great Room features vaulted ceilings and a stonework fireplace to enjoy on those cozy winter nights.
From the Great Room you can access the Master Suite. The Master Bedroom features vaulted ceilings and a gorgeous picture window. The Master Bath gives you space for both a shower and a whirlpool tub with an entry into the walk-in closet.
Returning to the Great Room you make your way to the Kitchen which features a high bar with seating for 6 and a Breakfast Room. The Breakfast Room features a large picture window that overlooks the Grilling Porch on the rear of the home and gives you plenty of natural light. The Kitchen also has a window right above the sink. My grandmother loved watching the birds while she was washing dishes. It’s just a simple pleasure in life.
The Breakfast Room gives you access to the downstairs half bath, Laundry Room and Storage Room with built in shelving. It also allows you to go out onto the Grilling Porch. Cup of coffee and watching the sunrise, anyone?
From the Great Room you find the stairs and the access door giving you storage under the stairs. Again, I’m so jealous of having a storage cubby under the stairs. I can see my kiddos pretending to be Harry Potter under there.
The second-floor features Bedrooms 2 and 3 and the bathroom they share. This little cabin is large in potential. It would make a perfect getaway for any family!
Country Club Drive (NDG 563)
This 2,400 square foot home gives you 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with a 3-car garage. This home is very popular, especially with builders, because of the plan’s clean lines and large Master Suite. Walking into the home from the Porch you immediately find yourself in the foyer with 10-foot ceilings. This makes a great impression on anyone visiting your home. To your left is the Dining Room that is separated by columns from the rest of the home giving you a private space for entertaining.
Stepping into the Great Room you first notice the French doors leading out on to the Covered Porch in the rear of the home. This Outdoor Living area is composed of both a Covered Porch and a Grilling Porch. It’s perfect for those hot summer afternoon cookouts.
From the Great Room you can step right into the large Kitchen area that includes an island with seating for 4 and a built-in pantry to give you plenty of space to store your essentials. The Kitchen is part of an open floor plan that includes a Hearth Room and Breakfast Room. The Hearth Room gives you a gas fireplace and a Computer Center as well as access to the Laundry Room which serves as a secondary entrance. The Breakfast Room gives you a wonderful view from the rear of the home with a large set of windows as well as access to the Grilling Porch.
On the other side of the home you will find Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. Bedroom 2 can either be used as a bedroom or as a study with an optional door coming in from the foyer. Either way you will love the built-in bookshelves and large picture window. This Bedroom also includes its own bath so it would be perfect for a guest room as well.
The Master Suite features its own Sitting Room with a bay window in the Master Bedroom. The Master Bath gives you a whirlpool tub and a glass shower as well as his and hers sinks. It also has access to a large walk-in closet. This plan also comes with a Bonus Room for storage or for when you have that gaggle of teenage girls sleeping over.
