House Plan Spotlight: Luxury Style

Published at May 08 2024 by JFord

California is home to some of the most fabulous luxury homes in the world. While this will always be the case, there has been a large number of luxury homes being built around the world. A luxury lifestyle doesn’t have to be just for the rich and famous. Everyone deserves to have a little luxury in their lives. Here at Nelson Design Group we offer dozens of Luxury Style house plans to give you all of the luxury you will ever need.

Sprawling Mansions

When you think of Luxury Style homes, you ordinarily think of large footprints with huge square footage. And you wouldn’t be wrong. Many of the Luxury Style house plans that we have are gorgeous and dominate the landscape with their size and beauty.

Salvatore (NDG 1344)Salvatore (NDG 1344)

This home is a perfect example of a modern mansion. This house plan gives you nearly 8,000 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 5 and half baths. This home also includes a 4 car garage and a loft area. The circle driveway in the front of the home leads you straight into the entry way of the home. The foyer opens into a 5’ wide Grand Hall.

Walking directly through the opening from the grand hall you find yourself in the massive Great Room. This room features a large fireplace central to the right hand wall and exposed beams in the ceilings to give you that look of openness that we all love right now. From the Great Room you can walk onto the Covered Porch.

The Covered Porch wraps around the home and gives you space for a Covered Outdoor Living Area and an open Grilling Porch. From any of the porch entrances you can make your way back into the home through the Hearth Room. This massive room with vaulted ceilings is perfect for those cozy nights in. Just beyond the Hearth Room is the spacious Kitchen. The Kitchen features a large island that will seat 6 for entertaining as well as a walk in pantry for all of those wonderful meals.

From the Kitchen, you can walk back out into the main hall. This floor also has a Study with an adjoining Library, Dining Room, an Office with adjacent Storage area for all your files, a massive Laundry area, a Hobby room, ad 3 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms and walk-in closets. The Master Suite with its built in sitting room and one of the largest Master Baths that I have ever seen. The Master Bath includes a glass shower, a whirlpool tub and two walk in closets bigger than my first apartment.

The second floor features a Media Room where you could have your own personal Theater. It also includes an apartment area with its own Bedroom, large bathroom with large walk in closet, and fully functioning Living Area/Kitchen Combo and private entrance. Did I mention the personal theater?

This home is spectacular. We have photos from one our clients who built the home and they are absolutely gorgeous. This home is nearly 4,000 square feet and has 4 bedrooms with 4.5 baths. A 3 car garage gives you plenty of room to store your daily drivers and everything else.

Walking into the home, you entry through the Entry Porch and into the Foyer which is flanked on either side by the Dining Room and Study/Office. Moving forward you find yourself in a massive Great Room with a fireplace with built in shelving on either side. The high ceilings are further accentuated by the Timber Beams giving the home a rustic feel. Or as rustic as a gorgeous mansion can be.

The Great Room blends seamlessly into the Kitchen Area with an adjoining Breakfast Room and large pantry. The Kitchen and Great Room are “separated" by a bar with seating for 4. The Kitchen has a large kitchen island with space for a built in sink. Moving past the kitchen you find the entrance to the garage with a small mudroom area for hanging coats. The garage has space for a regulation size storm shelter that can double as storage when it is not being used in an emergency.

Just past the entrance to the garage is a large Laundry Area that makes me positively green with envy. The Laundry Room includes a pass through from the Master Suite’s walk-in closet. That would make gathering up the laundry a breeze!

That brings us to the Master Suite. This is just down the hall from the Laundry Area. This Master Suite features a bank of windows facing out into the rear of the house and a private entrance to the Covered Porch and Outdoor Living and Grilling Area. This Outdoor Living Area features a gas fireplace with stone accents and room for an outdoor kitchen. The Master Bath includes a corner glass shower with seating and a whirlpool tub. And that laundry pass through I mentioned earlier? It’s in a huge walk in closet just past the master bath.

This floor is rounded out by 2 additional bedrooms. These bedrooms are on the opposite side of the home from the Master Suite, just in case you need to have some space away from the kids. Each of these bedrooms features their own bathroom.

The second floor of the home features a space for either a 4th bedroom or an optional game room. There is also a full bath and a small walk-in closet.

Winslow Manor (MEN 5043)Winslow Manor (MEN 5043)

I must say, the first time I saw this home I had to double check that the photo was a photo and not a rendering. It just looked that good. This house plan is just gorgeous. Clocking in at nearly 6,000 square feet, this home features 5 bedrooms, 5 baths and 2 half baths. The garage is even large and in charge with space for 4 vehicles.

You enter the home through the entry portico and move directly into the foyer which opens into the Grand Hall. This Grand Hall runs the length of the home and is perfect for hanging family photos and great art.

From the Grand Hall you can access one of the half baths, the large Laundry Area, the Butler’s Pantry, the entryway to the garage and Motor Pool and the entrance to the regulation size safe room.

This home features an enormous Living Room that flows into a Kitchen area with a Breakfast Room. The Living Room is dominated by the combination of a large fireplace and coffered ceilings. The coffered ceiling gives this room an “old world" feel with a modern open floor plan. The kitchen features a large island with seating for 4.

From the Breakfast Room you can move into a secondary hallway that leads to a Home Theater/ Game room and 2 of the bedrooms. Each of these bedrooms has its own bathroom and walk in closets.

This secondary hallway leads you to the Motor Court that accesses the twin 2 car garages. This area of the home also features a pet room and a room for changing and cleaning up for pool time.

On the other side of the home, you will find one of the other bedrooms and a Guest Room both of which have their own private bathrooms and walk-in closets. The Master Suite is located on this side of the home. Or perhaps I should call it the Master Wing.

This area is made up of the Master Suite that has a private entrance to the porch at the rear of the home, the Master Bath with a freestanding tub and corner glass shower and two walk-in closets. Not just any walk-in closet will do for the Lady of this Manor home. Her closet is bigger than my bedroom is now.

Luxury is a State of Mind

One of the things that we want to remind people of is that square footage is not always the most important thing. Your home should fit your needs and be worth the time and money that you invest in it. If you love luxury living, but you don’t really need a huge sprawling house, we can take care of that too.

“Luxury does not necessarily equate to square footage. Luxury is a state of mind." - Stephanie Nelson, building consultant.

And it’s very true. You can have everything you need from a luxury home without having to have a large footprint. Here at Nelson Design Group we always take your needs into consideration when we are helping you design a new home.

Kalie's Place (MEN 5077)Kalie’s Place (MEN 5077)

This home is not a sprawling mansion, but gives this plan a long look. This 1,400 square foot home features 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. A 2 car garage gives you plenty of space to shelter your vehicles from the weather. This plan was built by one of our recommended builders and they provided us with gorgeous photos of the finished home.

The home is fronted by a large covered porch that opens into the Foyer. This is actually one large room that encompasses the Foyer, Great Room, Kitchen and Dining Area. The Great Room part of the space features a fireplace and large windows facing the covered porch. The Kitchen and Dining Area feature an island with seating for 4 and an entrance to the Grilling Porch on the rear of the home.

As you move down the hall into the rest of the home you will find the Laundry Room and the hall bathroom which is shared by the 2 smaller bedrooms. These bedrooms, however, feature their own walk-in closets. The Master Suite features a boxed ceiling, access to its own private bathroom and two walk-in closets, one for him and one for her. The garage which is accessed through the Laundry Room also has a storage area and a place for the water heater.

Auburn Dale Place (MEN 5139)Auburn Dale Place (MEN 5139)

This home is the best of both worlds. It features luxury styling for any budget. This plan gives you nearly 2,400 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. This home also features a 3 car garage. We feature photos of this plan on our website so that you can have a glimpse of your future if you choose this plan.

As you step into the home from the covered porch, you find yourself in the Foyer with 10’ tall ceilings. The Dining Room is just to the right of the Foyer and gives your guests a taste of the elegance the rest of the house is going to offer them.

The Foyer turns into a Gallery that runs partway through the home. Just past there, you have the open floor plan featuring the Great Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Room. The Great Room is dominated by the large stone fireplace and vaulted ceilings.

The Kitchen features a large island with seating for 6 and space for the sink and dishwasher. The Breakfast Room opens onto the rear of the home with large double doors. This is where you could have an optional screened Grilling Porch added to the plan.

On the other side of the Great Room you have a small hallway that leads to a hall bathroom. This hallway also leads you to one of the bedrooms. The other end of the hall leads you to the second bedroom or what could be used as an office space that has a private entrance to the one car garage on this side of the home. This space would be ideal for an office because of the abundance of natural light coming in from the bay window facing the front of the home.

The other side of the plan is dominated by the Master Suite featuring a free standing tub and tiled shower. This plan also features an optional bonus room for a second floor of the home.
