Life on the Farm: Farmhouse Collection Part 2

Published at September 05 2024 by JFord

Farmhouses are incredibly popular right now. I think that may be due to our hectic lives. The farmhouse comes from a time where things moved just a bit more slowly. My husband and I were talking about how different shopping for gifts has become just last night. I went online and purchased a quick little thing for the youngest and he was explaining to the girls how long it used to take to get things in the mail.

The speed at which business and our lives move has grown exponentially over the last several years. We remember getting the Sears toy catalogue in and our parents ordering what we circled in September so that it would be here in time for the holidays.

More Great Farmhouse House Plans

Times were simpler back then. We didn’t have to worry about much except for getting in before dark. Farmhouses bring back those feelings with their clean lines and beautiful porches to relax and unwind.

This house plan is modern farmhouse through and through. The first thing that you notice about this plan is the large wraparound front porch. This gives you ample space for you and your family to relax on those hot summer evenings and enjoy the cool breeze.

This home gives you 3,400 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. Unlike a traditional farmhouse, this home also gives you a Garage with room for 3 vehicles. Once you step inside from the front porch you immediately find yourself in the Great Room.

This is a feature that is typical with farmhouses. The combined living areas were traditionally in the front of the home and the “work" areas were in the rear of the home. The homes were laid out this way to keep the heat away from the sitting areas and the bedrooms.

The Great Room features a sloped ceiling and built in brickwork fireplace and gives you access to the Kitchen, the Master Suite and the staircase to the second floor. If you move toward the rear of the home from the Great Room, you find yourself in the Kitchen.

The Kitchen features a large “L" shaped island with seating for 6. It also has plenty of counter space and a corner pantry. From the Kitchen you can make your way to the Breakfast Room which can also serve as Office Space. This room features built in shelving and large picture window. Moving back into the Kitchen you can make your way into the Mudroom.

The Mudroom gives you access to the side-loading Garage located at the rear of the home and features a large closet for all of your coats and winter gear. The Mudroom opens up into the Laundry Room. The Laundry Room gives you plenty of counterspace, a built-in hanging rack and a doggy sized shower for your furry friends.

The Kitchen also opens up into the Dining Room with its gorgeous coffered ceiling. The Dining Room has two large windows and opens onto the Grilling Porch at the rear of the home. Moving further down the small hallway, you will notice there is a large pantry with built in shelving.

This pantry was made for the mom who loves to have all of her ingredients on-hand. Ree Drummond would absolutely love this plan! Moving further down the hall, you find Bedrooms 2 and 3. Bedroom 3 is the larger of the two bedrooms and features a walk-in closet and a private bathroom with a tiled shower.

Moving back to the front of the home, you can find the Master Suite. The Master Bedroom features 4 large windows that open onto the wraparound porch. The Master Suite is separated from the walk-in closets by a hallway framed with barn doors. The hallway leads to the Master Bath. The Master Bath features a large tiled shower with a seat, a free-standing tub (a hallmark of the farmhouse style), and his and hers sinks.

The second-floor features Bedroom 4 with its own Sitting Room, walk in closet and connected bathroom. The loft balcony opens up to the Great Room below and gives much needed openness to this space. This plan is perfect for large families with pets!

This is not your ordinary house plan. This is a specially designed plan from Seth Michael Nelson. This plan blends the love of the farmhouse style with a bit of the modern approach that Seth is known for. This plan gives you 3,200 square feet of living space with 5 Bedrooms and 3.5 Baths. It also features a 2 car Garage.

The first thing that you notice about this home is that it’s kind of looks like a barn. This home is perfect for people wanting a large home to build that has plenty of space both inside and out. The front of home is faced by a large covered Front Porch that spans the length of the home.

When you walk into the home you find yourself in an open-floor plan for the Great Room and Kitchen This floor plan would be perfect for large families. I can just see kids zooming across this space at lightning speed dodging each other (mostly) successfully.

The Kitchen features a wraparound countertop that gives even the most demanding cook plenty of space to fix their masterpieces. The Great Room features the spiral stairway to the Loft and entrance to both a storage room and to the Half Bath. This a perfect place for guests.

To the left of the Great Room and Kitchen you will find the Laundry Room/ Mudroom and Pantry. The Laundry Room/ Mudroom features a large countertop for folding and sorting as well as a farmhouse style sink for soaking stubborn stains. This Laundry Room even gives you a little mini shower that is perfect for someone coming in from working outside or for your furry friends. You can also access the pantry from this side of the Kitchen.

The Master Suite resides on this side of the home as well. It is separated from the rest of the home by a set of Barn Doors. The Master Suite features two large windows overlooking the front of the home. Moving through the second set of barn doors you find yourself in the Master Bath. This gives you both a large tiled shower as well as a whirlpool tub. This plan also gives you two walk-in closets for your Master Suite.

The other side of the home could be its own house. On the right side of the Great Room you can go through another set of barn doors and it will lead you to a small Living Room that is in the center of a four-leaf clover arrangement of awesomeness. The other 4 Bedrooms make up the leaves of the clover in this case and give you space on each of the four corners.

Bedrooms 1 and 2 share a Bathroom and Bedrooms 3 and 4 share a Bathroom but each has their own walk-in closet. And can you just imagine sending a bunch of kids to their own living room? Giving you all of the peace and quiet of your Great Room for you and your significant other? It would be amazing! Or you could send them to the Loft upstairs to play which has plenty of space for a work area, play area or even exercise area.

This modern farmhouse house plan is a beautiful blend of traditional urban homes and farmhouse features. You will notice that this home features a gorgeous covered porch that is perfect for lounging on hot summer days. Unlike the traditional farmhouse, this plan features a 2 car Garage.

This house plan gives you just over 2,400 square feet of living space with 4 Bedrooms and 3.5 Bathrooms. Entering the home through the covered porch you immediately find yourself in the Foyer. To the Left of the Foyer you will find the Dining Room that is bracketed by 8 foot columns at the entrances from both the Foyer and the Hallway.

Moving directly across the Hallway from the Dining Room and Foyer, you find yourself in an open floor concept that contains the Great Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Room. Open floor plans are not part of a traditional farmhouse style house plan, but this plan blends the traditional placement of the Kitchen and Great Room with the modern concept of it.

The Great Room features a large brickwork fireplace with built-ins and a media center flanking it. The Kitchen gives you room for a large range, lots of countertops, and a pantry and features an island with seating for 5. The Breakfast Room features a large window that looks out onto the Grilling Porch at the rear of the home which can be accessed from the double doors in the Great Room.

Moving further into the home, you will find the half bath and a Kids’ Nook off of the Garage entrance and right next to the Laundry Room. Let’s stop the smell of practice from coming any further in the house than we have to, right?

The remainder of this side of the home is made up of the Master Suite. The Master Suite features a large Master Bedroom with an enormous picture window. The Master Bath features a freestanding tub, a large glass shower, a his and hers sink and a large walk in closet.

The remainder of this floor is occupied by Bedrooms 2 and 3 which share a hall bathroom. Moving upstairs, we find Bedroom 4 with a built in computer area and a walk-in closet. Upstairs you will also find the last Bathroom that we promised you as well as a large storage closet. The top floor is finished up by a large TV Room that is a perfect place to watch sports or play the latest video games.
