Scary Good House Plans: Part 2

Published at October 30 2024 by JFord

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. I think it has a lot to do with pleasant memories from when I was a kid. I loved dressing up on Halloween. I was never very popular in school. So getting to dress up and pretend to be a princess or another magical character was something that made me feel like I was as special as the kids that were popular.

Halloween was also a lot of fun. I got to stay out past dark, which my parents never let me do, and eat tons of candy, which my parents also never let me do. It was something to look forward to, almost as much as Christmas and my birthday. This is the kind of thing that makes a house into a home. But first you have to have a really good house plan.

“Scary" Good House Plans

In honor of Halloween, I’m gathering up some really good house plans. I know bad house plans can be terrifying. So I’m going to be taking the fright out of looking for a good house plans.

Cherry Street (NDG 128)

Cherry Street (NDG 128)Cherry Street (NDG 128) Floor Plan

This traditional house plan is full of character. With a unique roofline and large windows, this house plan gives you plenty of curb appeal. With just over 2,400 square feet of living space, this home gives you 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 1 half bath and a 2 bay garage. That’s a lot in a traditional home! Some of the highlights of this plan are a large master bath and plenty of outside living space to entertain and relax.

As you approach the home, the first thing that you notice is the roofline. This is a unique roofline that gives your home loads of character from the word “Go". I love the bay window in the front of the home. Bay windows are always a great way to separate your home from everyone else on the block.

As you step into the home from the brickwork, covered porch, you find yourself in the foyer. This foyer is part of the open floor plan that also includes the great room and dining room. To your left, you can enter the dining room.

This space is a part of that open floor plan and only a few columns break up the line of sight between them. The dining room is large enough to host a modest size gathering and features a double casement window that faces the front of the home.

To the right of the foyer is the study. This room is closed off from the open floor plan by French doors. It also features a private entrance to the patio on the side of the house. Remember that bay window I mentioned earlier? This is its home and it adds a lovely bit of light and airiness to what would be a perfect space for a home office.

Moving forward from the foyer, you find yourself in the great room. This space is dominated by a large brickwork fireplace on the right wall. This fireplace is bracketed on each side by built-ins with shelving. This makes it perfect for a home entertainment center.

The rear wall of the space has two large windows and French doors that open to the covered porch on the rear of the home. Moving further into the home, you find yourself in the family room. This separate space is perfect for a kids play area or for an informal living space. The family room has two windows that face the rear of the home and an entrance to the covered porch.

The kitchen gives you plenty of counter space with room for a computer center. Don’t skip over the large pantry in the rear of the kitchen area! The breakfast room is adjacent to the kitchen and gives you large windows that are perfect for letting in the sunlight. The breakfast room opens up to the laundry room which features a large soaking sink and hanging storage over the washer and dryer hookups.

Bedrooms 2 and 3 are on this side of the home. They share a centrally located bathroom with his and hers sinks. Bedroom 3 has a small walk-in closet, while bedroom 2 has two smaller closets and a built-in desk.

The master suite is on the other side of the plan. The master bedroom features high boxed ceilings and windows that face the east side of the home. The master bedroom also has a separate entrance to the covered porch on the rear of the home.

There is a short hallway that connects the master bedroom to the master bath. Two walk-in closets sit on either side of this hallway. The master bath features a wraparound vanity with room for a make up mirror, a whirlpool tub and a shower.

This house plan has incredible curb appeal! This all brick home is someplace that is easy to call home. This 3,000 square foot house plan gives you 5 bedrooms with 4 full baths and a 3 car garage and is perfect for a large family. This home includes an in-laws suite with its own private entrance while the master suite has its own sitting area and large master bath. You can rule the roost in your own private courtyard or be the leader of the pack in the large kitchen. Don’t forget to check out the beautiful photos of this plan on our website!

Before you can enter this house, you have to go through the courtyard that frames the front door. This is a little slice of paradise in your front yard. Moving into the home from the covered porch, you find yourself in the foyer. This foyer is part of an open floor plan that includes the dining room and great room.

The foyer includes a small entryway closet that is a perfect place to store winter hats and coats. To the right of the foyer, you will find the dining room. Not only does the dining room open up into the foyer and the great room, but it is given a lot of light and airiness from high ceilings and two large windows facing the front of the home.

The great room features a large brickwork fireplace along the left wall. The fireplace is bracketed by built-in shelving and a media center on either side. This makes it perfect for entertaining.

The great room also features large windows and a French door that leads out on to the covered porch at the rear of the home. The covered porch and grilling porch are perfect for entertaining. The grilling porch is not covered and gives you a perfect place to cook out on your charcoal or gas grill.

Moving further to the right into the home, you find yourself in the kitchen. The garage entrance is directly into the kitchen making unloading groceries a breeze. The kitchen features loads of counterspace and a sink with a window that overlooks the grilling porch. I love having a sink that looks out on to the property.

The kitchen also features a large island in the middle with bar seating for 3. The hearth room is directly on the other side of the space from the island. This space gives you a brickwork gas fireplace and an optional computer center. This would be the perfect space for a kid to do homework.

The breakfast room is adjacent to the kitchen and gives you plenty or light in the form of a picture window facing the rear of the home. The breakfast room also opens up to the grilling porch on the rear of the home. This is the perfect space for an informal meal.

The laundry room is on the other side of the hearth room and gives you plenty of space to fold and organize. It also gives you a large sink to soak the really bad pieces and hanging storage over the washer and dryer hookups.

On the other side of the kitchen area is the in-laws suite. This would be perfect for an in-law or for an older kid to move into. It has its own private entrance that is adjacent to the garage. It also has its own in-suite bathroom that features both a whirlpool tub and a shower with a walk-in closet.

On the other side of the home you will find bedrooms 2, 3, and 4. Bedroom 2 can be used either as a bedroom or as a study. It features large windows that open up to the front of the home and space for an optional door into the foyer. Bedroom 2 has its own in-suite bathroom.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 each have a large closet and window and share the hall bathroom. The master suite features large windows with its own sitting room. The master bath gives you space for both a glass shower and a whirlpool tub. The walk-in closet is absolutely enormous and should have plenty of space to store everything.

I love a good farmhouse plan. This particular farmhouse is just over 2,100 square feet of living space and gives you 4 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms. Unlike most farmhouses, this plan gives you a 3 bay garage to hold your modern horse and carriage. This house plan has one of the prettiest wrap around porches. I can just see someone enjoying a nice glass of iced tea on this porch on a hot summer day. Besides the porch, this house plan also gives you an enormous master suite and an open floor plan that includes the great room, dining room, kitchen and breakfast nook.

As you approach the home, the first thing that you notice is the wrap around porch. I love wrap around porches. They bring on a level of nostalgia that is pretty hard to beat. And this one wraps on three sides of the home with steps on each side.

As you enter the home, you find yourself in the large great room. This space is part of an open floor plan that combines the great room, dining room, breakfast nook and kitchen. The great room opens up with high ceilings and windows that face the front of the home.

The great room gives you access to the stairwell and a under the stairs nook that is perfect for storage or for a room for the boy who lived. The great room also features a brickwork fireplace on the left wall.

Moving further into the plan, you find yourself at the back of the kitchen counter. This what “separates" the space between the great room and the kitchen. The kitchen gives you plenty of counter space and features a corner pantry and an island with bar seating for five with a prep sink.

The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen and features an entrance to the separate grilling porch on the side of the home and large windows on two of the walls. There is also a breakfast nook that is perfect for an informal meal or for a quick bite.

Between the breakfast nook and the laundry room is a small hallway that is perfect for a mudroom. This space comes in from the garage and has a small closet at the end. The laundry room is large and features plenty of counterspace, as well as a sink for soaking stubborn stains. It can also be used as a bathroom in a pinch with a small shower stall and toilet.

Moving further into the home, you will find bedrooms 2, 3, and 4. Bedroom 4 can also be used as a study and gives you a small closet and a window fac ing the rear of the home. Bedroom 3 has a small closet and features a double casement window that faces the rear of the home. Bedroom 2 has two windows, one that faces the porch and the other that faces the side of the home. All of the bathrooms share the hall bathroom.

The master suite finishes out this floor of the plan. The master suite is right in off the front door. The master bedroom features high ceilings and two windows that face the front of the home. There is a small hallway that moves between the master bedroom and the master suite.

This hallway is closed off from the bedroom by a sliding door and separates the two walk-in closets. The master bath is through this hallway through French doors. The master bath features both a whirlpool tub and a glass shower and has room for a linen closet.
