Spring Cleaning: Outside Edition

Published at March 23 2024 by JessicaN

Spring is in the air! The weather is starting to get warmer, the snow has melted away and it’s time for some spring cleaning. Ok, so spring cleaning may not sound like the most enjoyable way to kick off the season BUT you will not regret having a clean house, inside and out. Today we are going to tackle the SPRING CLEANING LIST: OUTDOOR EDITION. This time of deep cleaning is not limited to the inside of the home. On the contrary the outside of the home is equally as important now that you’ll be transitioning into spending more time enjoying the sun and less time cooped up inside getting cabin fever. There are some key essentials that you will want to make sure are on your outside cleaning list. 1) The Windows: After months of snow and rain your windows will be dingy and dirty. You don’t want to look outside and have the sun illuminate all those ugly water spots and dirt marks left from the endless months of winter. If your windows are only moderately dirty you can use a towel and window cleaner but if it looks like it is going to take a bit more effort, a window steam cleaner will do the trick and have your windows looking just like new. 2) The Cobwebs: Don’t give the bugs an even bigger reason to visit your home now that the weather permits their arrival. Go around your house using a broom to remove all the cobwebs. 3) The Trashcans: I don’t know about you but I can’t stand the smell of a dirty garbage can, and as the weather gets warmer the smell will get worse. Stop the problem before it happens by cleaning out your trashcans with dish soap and water. 4) The Front Porch: This is a great time to beat the dust out of the front mat, wipe down the porch light and clean the front door. Not only will it be nice to have a clean entryway when you come home but you can also take pride in having your home clean from the moment friends and family walk up to your door. 5) The Flower Gardens or Landscaping: If you have a flower garden or other kind of landscape surrounding your home you will want to get it ready for the beautiful blooms of spring. Pull any weeds and throw away any debris that made it into your yard during the winter. 6) The Patio Furniture: You’ll be ready to spend your evening in the refreshing spring breeze but no one wants to sit on dirty patio furniture. Use a vacuum to clean outdoor cushions. Soap, water and a scrub brush usually work great for tough outdoor furniture. Spray off the deck or patio and you’re all set to enjoy time in warm weather. There are plenty of other things that could make it into our list such as the garage door, the siding, the driveway and other tasks. If you have the time and energy to tackle every last item, go for it! Otherwise take this simple list as a start and go from there. You won’t regret having a fresh and clean start to this spring.
