Top Ten Best-Selling House Plans of 2018 - Part 2

The temperatures are warming up and summer activities are gearing up for their return to popularity. Public pools will open up soon, despite the snow that was dropped on the northern states recently. And while I’m writing this, my oldest child is attending her last day of school. It’s time to get the family together for all of those great summertime activities: swimming, water play, throwing water balloons, and pouring foundations.

Now that the Memorial Day weekend is over, summer has (unofficially) begun. If you haven’t started your house building project, now is the time to get it going. Here we have the Top Five Best-Selling Plans of 2018 to give you a good place to start. Incidentally, this is Part 2 of the Top Ten Best-Selling Plans, so don’t forget to go check out Part 1!


Ambrose Boulevard (NDG 844)

5. Ambrose Boulevard (NDG 844)

This lovely home is a great one to start out our Top Five list. This 2,400 square foot home with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths gives you everything that you will need. This home also offers a 2 car garage. As you enter the home through the large covered porch you step into the foyer. On your right you see the Dining Room that gives you ample space to entertain.

Moving through the foyer and the 5 foot arched opening you find yourself in the central hallway of the home. The Great Room is right before you and features a brickwork fireplace with a media center and built in shelving on either side. On the right side of the great room you see the bar seating for the kitchen area which gives you 4 place settings. The kitchen is separated from the Great Room by this divide.

The Kitchen features a large pantry and an L-shaped counter top that gives you lots of counter space. The Breakfast Room gives you a place for informal dining and for those first cups of coffee in the Morning. The Great Room has large French doors and windows that open up onto a Grilling Porch. The Breakfast Nook can access it as well.

Returning to the main hallway, you can make your way to the Garage, Laundry Room with built-in space for hanging clothes, the half bath and the Kid’s Nook/Mudroom. If you go back to the Great Room you will find the entrance to the Master Suite.

Adjacent to the Master Bedroom is a small Office/Computer area that will give you space to do business and check emails. The Master Bathroom has a whirlpool tub and a walk in shower as well as access to the large walk in closet.

The second floor gives you Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 with another bathroom. It also gives you a Computer Center that is perfect for the kids to do homework. The hallway between the rooms doubles as a balcony and overlooks the Great Room below. It’s no wonder this plan is on the Top Five list!


Country Club Drive (NDG 563)

4. Country Club Drive (NDG 563)

This 2,400 square foot home gives you 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with a 3 car garage. This home is very popular, especially with builders, because of the plans clean lines and large Master Suite. Walking into the home from the Porch you immediately find yourself in the foyer with 10 foot ceilings. This makes a great impression on anyone visiting your home. To your left is the Dining Room that is separated by columns from the rest of the home giving you a private space for entertaining.

Stepping into the Great Room you first notice the French doors leading out on to the Covered Porch in the rear of the home. This Outdoor Living area is composed of both a Covered Porch and a Grilling Porch. It’s perfect for those hot summer afternoon cookouts.

From the Great Room you can step right into the large Kitchen area that includes an island with seating for 4 and a built in pantry to give you plenty of space to store your essentials. The Kitchen is part of an open floor plan that includes a Hearth Room and Breakfast Room. The Hearth Room gives you a gas fireplace and a Computer Center as well as access to the Laundry Room which serves as a secondary entrance. The Breakfast Room gives you a wonderful view from the rear of the home with a large set of windows as well as access to the Grilling Porch.

On the other side of the home you will find Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. Bedroom 2 can either be used as a bedroom or as a study with an optional door coming in from the foyer. Either way you will love the built-in bookshelves and large picture window. This Bedroom also includes its own bath so it would be perfect for a guest room as well.

The Master Suite features its own Sitting Room with a bay window in the Master Bedroom. The Master Bath gives you a whirlpool tub and a glass shower as well as his and hers sinks. It also has access to a large walk-in closet. This plan also comes with a Bonus Room for storage or for when you have that gaggle of teenage girls sleeping over.


La Maison Point (SMN 1022)

3. La Maison Point (SMN 1022)

This European home is a best seller by Seth Michael Nelson and features 2,503 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and a 2 car garage. The first thing you notice about the home is the mix of traditional elements with Seth’s signature Modern stylings. It creates great curb appeal and will have you be the envy of the neighborhood.

Entering the home from the front porch you find yourself in the Foyer. If you turn to the left you see a dedicated Office Space with storage under the stair well. This space gives you two windows and a coffered ceiling. Moving back into the foyer you can proceed to the Great Room.

And let me tell you, the vaulted ceilings in the Great Room give you a “Great" feeling. This open floor plan combines the Kitchen, Great Room and The Dining Room. The Great Room features two French doors bracketing a wood burning inserted fireplace. The doors lead out onto the Covered Porch which has vaulted ceilings as well. The Covered Porch combines with a Patio, featuring a fire pit right in the middle, to create an absolutely stunning out door space.

The Kitchen features an island with seating for 5. The Dining Room features exposed false beams and a bank of picture windows looking out onto the Patio. If you continue out of the Dining Room you find yourself in a hallway that will lead to the Garage, the Laundry Area, and the Master Suite. The Garage features a storage area that is used for electrical wiring and the water heater as well as space for anything you need out of the way. The Laundry Area features a long table and hanging area to help with the sorting and folding.

The Master Suite features vaulted ceilings in the Master Bedroom. The Master Bath features a large glass shower, his and hers sinks and a free standing tub. The adjacent walk-in closet gives you a pass through from the closet to the laundry room saving you many steps.

On the other side of the home you will find Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. The bedrooms share a centrally located hall bath and all the bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and large closets. Bedroom 2 also features a built-in desk and window seat to enjoy the beauty of nature without having to brave the seasons.

The second floor features a large Bonus Room which would be ideal for a large bedroom or for a playroom for children. Especially since it has storage area covered with barn doors and full bath with a glass shower on the same floor. This house plan gives you all the room a growing family will ever need and it’s easy to see why this plan is so popular.


Gilliam Acres (NDG 320)

This plan is very popular. It’s a farmhouse plan and that means that it naturally lends itself to modifications. This home gives you over 2,000 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

This home features a large wraparound covered porch that just screams for you to sit and swing a while. One you walk into the home you find yourself in the Great Room that features a large fireplace. As you move through the Great Room you find yourself in the Dining Room and Kitchen Area with a Breakfast Area in the rear. The Kitchen on this plan is huge and features a large island with room for a sink and dishwasher as well as seating for 4.

This home also has a Mudroom that goes into the Laundry area in the rear of the home. The 3 bedrooms are all in the rear of the home and share a hall bath while the Master Suite is in the front of the home and features 2 walk-in closets. The Master Bath features a glass shower and a whirlpool tub.


Timberland Cove (NDG 1428)

Our most popular plans is our Timberland Cove plan. This is modern living with a Rustic flair. This home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths in just over 2,000 square feet of living space. It also features a 3 car garage. When you walk into this home through the covered porch with a vaulted ceiling you find yourself in the foyer. On the right side of the foyer is the entrance to the formal dining room that has sloped ceiling on each side. The foyer also features a closet to store all of those coats and mucky things that we all need from day to day and season to season.

Moving through the foyer you find yourself in a gorgeous Great Room featuring a fireplace and large door and windows opening up onto the Outdoor Living Space. The Great Room merges with the enormous kitchen with an island with seating for six. On the left side of the Great Room you find a hall way leading to 3 bedrooms and one of the bathrooms in the home. Each bedroom has a walk in closet for plenty of storage.

If you move through the kitchen you find yourself in another hallway that leads to the Master Suite. The Master Suite has room for an optional door to the Outdoor Living Space. The Master Bath features a glass shower with seating, a whirlpool tub and an entrance to the massive walk in closet. If you exit the Master Suite and move back down the hallway you find the half bath, a large laundry room, the stairs to go to the second floor and the entrances to the garages.

On the second floor you have a bonus room, additional storage and a bathroom. One of the options for the second floor is to have an opened balcony that looks down on the Great Room and Kitchen below it.
